FAST feasts on Platefood
By Jessica Twentyman
Enterprise search supplier Fast Search & Transfer (FAST) has acquired London-based Platefood Limited, a provider of online search and search-based advertising services to media firms, for $10.7 million in cash.
Prior to the deal, FAST owned 19 per cent of Platefood, founded in 2005 as a joint investment between FAST, media company Schibsted and directories service provider Sensis.
Platefood offers online search services and search-based advertising products, mostly to media and online directory companies. Platefood Performance is a search ‘monetisation’ and advertising system for selling, managing, and delivering pay-for-performance advertising. It also provides a global web index that offers ‘best-of-the-web’ search results and professional services to help customers set it up.
