AIIM explores role of ECM in storage decisions

A recent study by AIIM, the enterprise content-management (ECM) association, has reported continued growth and requirement for content-management storage solutions in organisations.

The report, ‘The Role of ECM in Storage Decisions: The Why, What, and How of Storing Business Critical Information’, found that storage of unstructured information is increasing in mindshare within a large segment of the end-user community. And three out of ten users stated that storage of unstructured documents and information accounted for more than 40 per cent of their total storage spend.

Indeed, many organisations are actively working to consolidate and rationalise their storage and archiving strategies – although cost is not a primary driver. According to the study, ensuring business continuity, providing access to information across the organisation and reducing litigation risks are the real driving forces behind this trend.
